FAU Football Thanks Wisconsin For Their ‘Hospitality’ During Hurricane Irma

FAU thanked Wisconsin on Twitter earlier today.

Following the Owls’ 31-14 loss to the Badgers on Saturday, the decision was made by FAU to stay in Madison as Hurricane Irma ravaged Florida over the weekend.

And today, FAU football took to Twitter to express its gratitude toward Wisconsin for being so accommodating.

And Wisconsin responded:

Florida governor Rick Scott ordered mass evacuations throughout the state in preparation for the hurricane, and while many Florida schools canceled their games over the weekend, FAU traveled up to Wisconsin and made the decision to remain there until the storm passed.

“I give [athletic director Barry Alvarez] credit,” FAU athletic director Pat Chun said on Saturday, per Bleacher Report. “Him and his staff made it very clear to us they would make any and all accommodations necessary to ensure that if the stay was elongated, they would assist us in any way possible.”

FAU is scheduled to host Bethune-Cookman this weekend but it’s unclear if the game will go off as scheduled.
